HENSON WANTS WALES CHANCE

GAVIN HENSON last night insisted the relaunch of his career with Saracens can propel him into Warren Gatland’s Wales squad for the Six Nations.

The Lions centre made his confident claim as he opened up for the first time about leaving the Ospreys to start his rugby career afresh in the English Premiership.

Henson spoke of getting back up to speed quickly, saying he may only need three or four weeks of training to be ready to play again.

And he made it clear he is already eyeing pulling on the red jersey once more, stressing that a first appearance at a World Cup – in New Zealand next year – is a huge motivation, and even mentioning the Lions.

“I have not spoken to Warren Gatland at all, but I suppose the first thing I have to do is get back on the field and play,” said Henson, who has already made it clear to Saracens that he wants to be released for all Wales commitments.

“The World Cup is there and that’s a big thing for me because I have never been to one and I would love to go. The Six Nations is coming up and I would love to be part of that as well.
